Japanese Episode II Yoda vinyl figurine

Posted: March 5, 2002
Category: Collectibles

Thanks to RebelScum.com for the following news:
Japanese toy company Kotobukiya, known for the awesome detail and sculpt with their character based soft vinyl and cold cast statues, has secured the rights to produce soft vinyl prepainted statues based on the Star Wars saga, with a few characters from Attack of the Clones. These sets require limited assembly and have a projected retail price of 4800 Yen and up (approximately $40). The 1/6 scale statues will come with bases and some will be packed with added accessories.

"We expect them to follow the Kotobukiya tradition of good detail and a commitment towards reproducing characters to exact specifications", says a company spokesperson. Unfortunately, the license is limited to Japan and there are no plans to release them in the U.S. at the moment. Following is what's planned for release this summer:

Darth Vader
Clonetrooper
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Jango Fett
Mace Windu and Yoda 2 Pack

I can't wait to see what the Yoda sculpt will look like. For those of us who aren't in Japan, we will have a rough time finding these. They probably will show up in online auctions, but the prices will probably be a lot higher.

Check out RebelScum for more Star Wars collectibles news.
